Running Kit

Running Kit

Specialist Running Kit

When choosing the right clothing for running, it is important to look for the right fabric. Unlike earlier, breathable cotton is not the only choice now. Experts recommend wearing absolute lightweight cotton, which will prevent chafing and allergic reactions that occur due to sweat.

You can also go in for wicking fabrics, high-tech fabrics that are designed to draw sweat away from the skin to the outer surface, allowing it to evaporate easily.

Runners also need to be very careful when running in winters. Lightweight warm clothing is the latest innovation that can help you to run comfortably in such weather.

Layering of clothes is highly recommended for such an environment. For instance, most runners like to wear a light base layer of wicking material, followed by a lightweight long-sleeved top, made of fleece or other material.

In addition, when choosing shorts for yourself, go in for those made of Supplex nylon, shaped specifically to minimize rubbing. You also have an option of selecting fitted shorts, made of Lycra or wicking material to avoid chafing.

Finally, when running in dark, it is important to wear colours in which you will be seen easily. Go in for bright colours, or even fluorescent hues to make yourself clearly visible in the dark.

Specialist Gear

Socks: Experts recommend wearing specific running socks, which help in avoiding blisters.

Sunglasses: A good functional pair of sunglasses to be used for running should be comfortable and provide ventilation and safety.

Shoes: Running shoes that fit well and support your feet are one of the main factors for a successful running program. Choose the right shoe in accordance with the type of your foot and running goal.

Fabric: Choose the right type of fabric. Women can especially use synthetic fibres instead of cotton ones if there is a risk of an allergic reaction.

Fuel belt: A fuel belt is a useful hydration system, replacing the conventional water bottle carriers. The belt is made of special knit elastic that flexes with every movement made by the athlete. Owing to the unique design, the bottles get strategically positioned around the waist.

Performance shirts, beanies and specially designed flasks are other types of specialist gear used for running.
